Medicare Open Enrollment 2027
Medicare Advantage, state by state
Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage runs October 15, 2026, to December 7, 2026. Pick your state to see how many plans are sold there, what they cost, and which extra benefits they list, from public CMS data.
What Medicare Advantage is
Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans are sold by private insurers approved by Medicare. They replace Original Medicare as the way you get hospital and doctor coverage, and most include Part D drug coverage too.
Plans often cost less each month than Original Medicare with a Medigap policy, but they use networks, set their own copays, and cap what you pay each year. Many add dental, vision, or allowance benefits. Those extras vary by plan and county, and some are only for members who meet chronic-condition or Medicaid rules.

Plan benefits explained
Grocery allowance
Some private Medicare Advantage plans give certain members a set amount, often on a prepaid card, to spend on healthy food and produce at approved stores. It is a plan benefit, not a government payment, and Original Medicare has no grocery benefit.
Part B giveback
A Part B giveback is a feature of some Medicare Advantage plans: the plan pays part of your Medicare Part B premium. You see it as a smaller premium deduction from your Social Security payment, not as a separate check.
$0-premium plans
A $0-premium Medicare Advantage plan charges no monthly premium of its own. You still pay your Medicare Part B premium, and you still pay copays, coinsurance, and deductibles when you get care, up to the plan's yearly out-of-pocket limit.
OTC allowance
An over-the-counter (OTC) allowance lets plan members buy approved health items, such as pain relievers, vitamins, and first-aid supplies, up to a set amount each month or quarter. Plans deliver it through a card, a catalog, or approved stores.
Dental coverage
Original Medicare does not cover most routine dental care. Many Medicare Advantage plans add dental benefits, from cleanings and X-rays (preventive) to fillings, crowns, and dentures (comprehensive), usually up to a yearly dollar limit.
