About $0-premium plans

A $0-premium Medicare Advantage plan charges no monthly premium of its own. You still pay your Medicare Part B premium, and you still pay copays, coinsurance, and deductibles when you get care, up to the plan's yearly out-of-pocket limit.

What to check before you choose

  • A $0 premium does not mean low total cost. Check the out-of-pocket limit, copays for the care you use, and whether your doctors are in the network.
  • Check whether the plan includes Part D drug coverage and whether your drugs are on its list.
  • Some $0 plans are Special Needs Plans open only to people with Medicaid, certain chronic conditions, or who live in a facility.
